VIVA Together Gala
$2.7 Million Reasons to Celebrate…
Supporting the education of Cristo Rey Jesuit Students
Under spectacular club lighting and dressed in vibrant cocktail attire, nearly 700 guests gathered in the ballroom of the Hilton Americas Hotel Saturday night, raising $2.7 million to help educate economically challenged students. Although incredibly successful, funds raised at the Gala cover a portion of the scholarships necessary to support the school’s 500 students. Every student is on scholarship, making the gala critical to the school’s fundraising efforts; particularly this year when the school’s Corporate Work-Study Program has been financially impacted by the pandemic. The gala was chaired by Jan & Oniel Mendenhall and Michele & Steve Holbrooke.
Joy and Paul Posoli were bestowed the prestigious Fr. TJ Martinez, SJ, Legacy Award (Fr. Martinez is the school’s founding president) for being Cristo Rey Jesuit champions. Paul Posoli, who served as the 2nd president of Cristo Rey Jesuit for five years, has an extensive history with Cristo Rey Jesuit. Paul and his wife Joy have served as long-time volunteers, supporters, and advocates of Cristo Rey Jesuit. “This is an investment that has strong returns; please give uncomfortably tonight,” said an emotional Paul Posoli as he and Joy accepted the award, surrounded by members of the Class of 2021 and several alumni, who Paul continues to mentor. “I can’t think of a better investment in the future of our country than Cristo Rey Jesuit students.”
