About

Unique School. Proven Results.

Cristo Rey Jesuit is a Catholic college preparatory school that exclusively serves young men and women who would not otherwise be able to afford a private education. We prepare students to be college-ready and career-prepared! We achieve this through a rigorous academic curriculum and an innovative Corporate Work-Study Program that places students in Houston businesses and nonprofits where they earn up to 50 percent of the cost of their education.

Since our first graduation in 2013, we have graduated 1,174 alumni who earned more than $120 million in scholarships with a 100% college acceptance rate.

Mission

To inspire and prepare students of limited economic resources to succeed in college and lead their communities as compassionate, committed, and competent men and women for others for the greater glory of God.

Vision

Compelled by our Jesuit Mission and identity, we are a vibrant community that transforms the world by loving, learning and excelling in all we do.

We accomplish this mission every day through an innovative model of education that combines a strong academic foundation, a unique work-study internship, a wide variety of extracurricular activities, and a faith-based education grounded in the Jesuit teachings in which all students are being formed to be Men and Women for Others.

Family Contribution + Corporate Work-Study Internship   + Scholarship = Life-Changing Education

History

On August 10, 2009, Founding President Fr. TJ Martinez, SJ, along with his Board of Trustees and Directors opened Cristo Rey Jesuit with an inaugural class of 82 students, each of whom worked at leading businesses and corporations across Houston.

Sponsored by the Jesuits of the Central and Southern Province, it was the first Jesuit Cristo Rey school in the southern part of the United States. Today, under the visionary leadership of President Paul Beck, the school is one of the largest in the Cristo Rey Network. Now, with nearly 500 enrolled students and 1,174 alumni, we are celebrating 14 years of miracles and milestones, and looking to the future.

Our Mascot

In the Fall of 2009, the first Cristo Rey Jesuit Student Council wrote a proclamation stating that the school mascot would be a Lion. The Lion was shortly thereafter named “Ledo” in remembrance of famous Jesuit Wlodimir Ledochowski. Marketing firm BrandExtract with the help of a focus group of students created a mascot that portrayed the characteristics of courage, love, heart and honor.
