From the President's Perspective

"Do you have an attitude, Martinez?”  I distinctly remember this question put to me by my seventh grade basketball coach at St. Joseph Academy in Brownsville, Texas, as I was type of student who had a funny quip for everything the coach said.  My dreams for a professional basketball career did not go far past junior high, but that had less to do with my attitude and more to do with other reasons.  Let’s just say I didn’t quite make it past the 6’0 recommended minimum height requirement (with an admiring nod to the Charlotte Bobcats’ Earl Boykins!).

Recruiting for Next Year

This time last year, our Admissions Committee embarked on a campaign to convince students to buy into the idea of Cristo Rey Jesuit, the newest Jesuit institution in the South. After a year of spreading the word, Cristo Rey Jesuit opened to 82 students in August. So we begin again, recruiting students who will become the class of 2014.  Read More >

Mass of the Holy Spirit

In a gymnasium crowded with more than 650 supporters and electric with excitement, Archbishop Fiorenza welcomed the 82 freshmen of the Cristo Rey Jesuit Class of 2013 to celebrate the Inaugural Mass of the Holy Spirit, and to bless them as they embark on an educational journey that will change their entire future.

ABC 13 Visits Corporate Sponsors

After only two weeks on the job, Cristo Rey Jesuit students are making an impression on the working world.  On September 15, Cynthia Cisneros, ABC Channel 13 newscaster, visited two Cristo Rey Jesuit students at their workplaces (The Methodist Hospital System and UHY Advisors) to see how our students were faring. The SMART Way to Learn

The English classroom goes silent as a student steps up to the board and stops for a moment to think.  In front of her is an array of colorful boxes projected onto a large computer screen, and, after some coaxing from her teammates, she chooses one, touches it, and it fades away to reveal one of her vocabulary words from the week’s lesson.  Read More >
